What we do . . .
The club exists to further the ambitions of local young skiers wishing to develop their skills on both snow and artificial surfaces. The racers aged between 8 and 18 years are trained by our dedicated team of coaches. Young skiers, with a broad range of ability and experience, are encouraged to reach their full potential through regular attendance of both training and race events.
A committee of parents and coaches oversee the management and organisation of the club.
Local Taining
The club meets on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings for regular training sessions. Skiers are coached at an appropriate level depending on their ability and experience. The club promotes the belief that successful racers are, first and foremost, good skiers and uses this as a guiding principle in its developemnt program.
Regional & National Racing
During the summer season our members compete in UK Southern Region, London & South Eastern Region and SnowSport England organised events on artificial slopes throughout England and Wales.
Winter Snow Training
During the winter months, training sessions at Alderhot's Alpine Snowsports slope continue. The club also organises an annual training camp in France giving our members excellent preparation for competition on snow. Both coaches and parents accompany the young skiers to Flaine where the club employs two outstanding race coaches, Gilles Balthazard and René Roulet, both former trainers of the French national team with 25 years' experience. They work with the youngsters throughout the week, skiing both slalom and GS courses on a dedicated slope. The club skiers are often training alongside other very experienced and successfull racers of differing nationalities and the week is a fantastic experience for both the ambitious and the more modest youngsters.
Monthly Race
The club runs a monthly race, usually on the first Sunday of the month. This gives the coaches and competitors alike, a chance to evaluate progress and have some fun. It gives the the young competitors a further chance to practice race skills and gain some understanding of the rules surrounding such events.
