HOW DO I JOIN?
Send your details including contact details to the club using the form above or the email address below. We'll contact you and if appropriate, arrange for you to attend a trial session. You need to be 8 or older and be a reasonably confident skier. If in doubt come and talk to us and see what we do.
In time you'll need skis, boots, a helmet and lots of other kit but to start with, come as you are and hire what you need. You will need long sleeves and trousers to protect your arms and legs, gloves to protect your hands and a jacket if it's wet or cold.
TRAINING, TRAINING AND MORE TRAINING
ASRC is lucky to have an extremely talented and committed coaching team. Good training and preparation is the bedrock of the club's success. Athletes train twice a week at the ski slope in Aldershot. The club employs a team of half a dozen well qualified coaches who have had very successful racing careers themselves. Apart from the slope based training the coaches can help and guide parents and athletes on all aspects of ski racing.
WHEN AND WHERE
8:00am to 10.00am
This is the main training session of the week and all club members are encouraged to attend these sessions regularly and they run throughout the year.
6:30pm to 8:00pm
This mid week session is very popular. During the winter months it is conducted under floodlights.
THE WINNING HABIT
In 2017, for the third year in a row ASRC was the top club in England winning the prestigious Calvert Cup. The club athletes where successful at all levels of competition from regional races to national competitions. This success is the result of the hard work put in by athletes, coaches and parents.
Much more than this though, the athletes make life long friends, build confidence and learn discipline. The club brings parents and children together and engenders through all the trials and tribulations, tremendous pride in what we as a club achieve. Come and join a winning team.
The club is committed to ensuring all children or young adults participating in snowsports have a safe and positive experience. The club adopts snowsport Englands SnowSafe policy for safeguarding and any future revisions of the policy. See Snowsport England site.
ASRC is proud to be Snowmark accredited club.
ALDERSHOT SKI RACE CLUB AT A GLANCE
A Bit of Background
ASRC is focussed on Alpine ski racing for young people between the ages of 8 and 18. Club members compete at all levels of ski racing with considerable success, on both snow and artificial slopes.
Racers range in ability and experience but are encouraged by our dedicated team of coaches, to reach their full potential through regular attendance at both training and race events.
During the summer season members compete in regional, national and international events. In the winter, as well as continuing the training locally, the club organises an annual training camp in the Alps. Many members augment this with additional snow training with one of the many good ski race academies. The winter competition season includes events suitable for racers of all abilities both in the UK and in the Alps.
As a club, we're affiliated to Snowsport England and we're an accredited Snowmark club. The club relies on the contribution of parents without whom. Parents take an active role in the organisation and management of the events and competitions.
We welcome new skiers to the club and so if you're interested in joining us or just want to have a look round, then get in touch.
